This activity is called Taboo Game and it consists of defining a word without using other four words which are the taboo ones. I took this activity from "Reward" upper intermediate. It is a nice activity and students generaly have a lot of fun.
Cynthia, I love that game too! You can use it with such a variety of vocabulary and other patterns that it is really useful. In my case, I don't know if I have one particular activity that I like the most. If I had to choose, I would say that I like preparing crosswords and activities on the wiki for my students. See you soon, keep it up! Lore
Cynthi the Taboo Game is such an exciting game that it is difficult not to include it in a lesson! We really had fun last Friday, thanks for that, because eventhough I've prepared it for my students, I hadn't had the opportunity to play it again! Go ahead! Naty
no need to say but, I really enjoy guessing games, especially those that demand certain strategies. I think these types of games are challenging, but at the same time stimulating. They open our minds a bit.
I do have a small constructive criticism to make regarding the activity as presented last Friday. You might want to reconsider allowing all the groups to play at the same time. We are all responsible adults at the TTC, but teens may no be as "reliable". Maybe one group at a time can play, while the rest of the class acts as a monitor/judge for those playing. That way you will stand back, let them ALL participate somehow, and esure that they will pay attention to each other.
This aside, loved it, enjoyed it, we should play it again!
